Fundraising

Fundraising at Griffith Barracks

As everyone is aware there is a shortfall in funding for every school each year and it falls to the parents to fundraise. We, at Griffith Barracks have a good track record for fundraising thanks to the parents who continue to get involved and give so generously of their time.

We run a very successful fair every winter and summer. This is organised by a group of parents. They are always looking for help so if you would like to get involved in one of our fairs please see one of the organisers of these events.

We also make a calendar every year with every child and staff member drawing their picture on their birthday page. 6th class design the front cover for this and with the help of a one of the parents who is a graphic designer. These are then sold to the wider school community, making a profit for the school.

The Parent Association runs a pub quiz every year. This is usually held in Griffith College. It is a fun night and makes a considerable amount for the school.

Other events are organised, such as class photographs and summer camps, which also make money for the school.

There has been other once off fundraising events, such as a very successful Art Exhibition in 2009, dinner and social evenings and sponsored walks.

It is open to any parent in the school to come up with an idea for fundraising. Any idea that anyone may have must be first passed by the Board of Management before being implemented. It is good practice to approach the Parent Association also to look for ideas and volunteers. It is up to those parents who take on organising an event to promote that event. This can be done by notices on the notice board, notes to the Principal requesting inclusion in the Thursday note, flyers put in the children's bags etc. These will be collated every September and January so please be sure to have your ideas ready for those cut-off points.
